The Hyperion Wastewater Treatment plant processes 380 mgd of wastewater of which 190 mgd receives secondary treatment. The Hyperion Full Secondary program will increase the plants secondary treatment capacity to 450 mgd. The conversion to Full Secondary Treatment will result in a substantial increase in solids production. The existing digester capacity must be supplemented. This is accomplished by the Digester Expansion Project, which includes the design and construction of 18 primary digester and 2 secondary digesters. The Digester Expansion contract consists of the following elements:

General Layout & Distributed Control System
    Digester Facilities
Sludge Pump Station & Gardener/Laborer Facility
MST 11 ands 12 Load Center
    Tunnels
    Site-work
Air Gap Reservoir and Pump House

The estimated Total Project Cost: $243,364,000. Scheduled Completion Date: Phase I- June 1996; Phase II - June 1998 and Phase III - September 1998.
