    Dean Ryan has been awarded a 5-year environmental services contract from the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region. Dean Ryan will provide water resources and environmental planning services including engineering, economics, natural and social sciences primarily in support of the CALFED Bay-Delta and Central Valley Program Improvement Act (CVPIA) programs. The purpose of the project is to protect, restore and enhance fish, wildlife, and associated habitats, support the development of a long-term comprehensive plan that will restore ecological health and improve water management for beneficial uses within the Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region.

    Dean Ryan will support the Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region, in its mission of managing, developing, and protecting water resources in an environmentally and economically sound manner. One of the best ways to accomplish this mission, in part, is to encourage all who receive Bureau water to use it wisely at the outset. The Bureaužs mission requires that it be a wise steward of the managed water resources for the joint environmental benefit of humans and wildlife.

    Dean Ryan will develop and prepare environmental quality evaluations and material for documents such as environmental assessments and environmental impact statements, environmental impact reports and negative declarations pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the related Council of Environmental Quality regulations, and biological assessments pursuant to Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act for plans or projects. Dean Ryan will prepare environmental chapters for planning reports, environmental plans, and environmental quality accounts. In some instances, Dean Ryan professionals will conduct all aspects of preparing environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, environmental impact reports, negative declarations and biological assessments.

    Dean Ryan will support the Bureau with water resources development, management and related land and resource uses. This will require a multidisciplinary approach which will require expertise in engineering and the natural, economic, environmental (including NEPA/CEQA compliance), and social sciences. In, addition, Dean Ryan will develop a public outreach program to include; identification of public groups affected by the activity, specific and timely activities or products designed to keep them informed and consult with them on Bureau activities, and effective strategies and techniques.
